There are players we watch for the score. And there are those we watch for the skill, the move no one saw coming, not even the defender opposite. Allan Saint-Maximin has belonged to the second category since his debut.
But it wasn't on the field that we met him.
We first learned that he was already a Blackout customer, having bought them from our retailer in Monaco. No contract, no quid pro quo, no photo to publish. Simply a customer. Then his best friend let us know that a discussion might be possible.
We hesitated. We had just closed a chapter in football, and the idea of returning to it immediately didn't seem obvious. We picked up the phone without knowing where we were going.
An hour of conversation was enough.
It wasn't a player selling his image that we had on the phone. It was a quick, precise mind, who had already thought about what the collaboration should be, and who spoke of building, not of quid pro quo. An entrepreneur, with the vocabulary and reflexes that go with it. At the end of the call, the question was no longer whether we should move forward.
The rest, we know. Trained at Saint-Étienne, revealed at Nice, four seasons in the Premier League at Newcastle where he became one of the fans' favorite players and helped qualify the club for the Champions League. Then Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Mexico, and this return to France in the winter of 2026: six months at RC Lens, a French Cup final won, the club's first title in its history. Today, he wears the Charlotte FC jersey in MLS, as a star player.
Seven leagues, three continents, and always the same signature: the unexpected move.
What brought us together, however, is not his list of achievements. It's a certain idea of excellence, seeking the highest level, and not settling for anything less. This obsession, we recognize it immediately, because it is ours.
There is something else, more difficult to write without it sounding false: Allan is a genuinely kind person. Sincerely benevolent.
Many see the footballer. We saw the man behind him.

He was already a client even before we spoke. A collaboration that made so much sense.
